Great facial moisturizer for oily acne-prone skin? Guaranteed 10 pts.?

January 2nd, 2011 · 6 Comments · Best Makeup Foundation For Dry Skin

I have oily skin and somewhat mild acne. Medium on some days. Used to be severe. I’ve had continuous acne since I was about 11. I know that moisturizing is very important. I used Dove Deep Moisture before.. Loved it.. But, I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

I’ve used honey. Not really good.. It burned and made my skin feel really parched.

I’ve used evoo, and it was, ehh, okay.. Not great. Left my skin feeling super oily. Didn’t absorb too well, even a tiny amount.

I just tried Ponds Dry Skin Cream.. I know there are some ingredients known for clogging pores, but I already bought it. I thought I might as well try it. Everyone’s skin is different.. And it did work for some people. It doesn’t really absorb well. It leaves my skin feeling greasy hours after I’ve applied it. I love it as a hand moisturizer, though. It has salvaged my dry winter hands (I’ve been trying to find a cure for a week or 2) and it made my elbows really smooth. So, if you need a good hand cream try that..

I’ve tried Cetaphil’s SPF 50 UVA/UVB Defense moisturizer. It just sits onto of the skin, too.. I know it’ll make my skin appear white because of the sunscreen.. So, I can’t really complain there.

I also wear makeup.. I know it doesn’t help (probably worsens) my acne at all. I know it has pore-clogging ingredients. I’m going to try Almay when I get some Christmas money. (I’m 14.5, by the way) At the moment, I use Covergirl’s clean makeup for Oily skin. I use the foundation (liquid) and powder from that line. I also use some Maybelline Mineral Powder concealer. I apply with a makeup sponge cause.. We’re broke. I feel it’s more hygienic, too.. I also use Revlon’s Colorstay eyeliner.. If that helps any..

If you can reccommend a great moisturizer for me to use after cleansing and my mask, I would be really grateful. Thanks for reading and I’ll definitely choose best answer.

I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer SPF 15. It’s great for daytime and also works as a makeup base.

I have oily skin, but it used to be worse when I bought drugstore mineral make up (I’m 15 now). So I suggest you stop and save up for higher quality makeup, once I started using Bare Minerals my skin complexion changed drastically and my acne is practically gone.

If it helps, my morning/night skin regime is
    - Wash with Cetaphil Skin cleanser (along with a cotton ball)
    - Sprits on "c. Booth’s Tea Tree Therapeutic Toner" ($7 at drugstores)
    - Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer (either the one for night or spf)

Btw, the toner I use definitely gets rid of acne causing bacteria and scars. I definitely think you should try it. :) Its one of the top 10 best toners. And if I may say, avoid using makeup – I only use it during special days.

I use clean and clear facial lotion for acne prone skin. It has salycilc acid in it, but in a low dose. I can put it on and wear makeup over it, and it doesn’t leave my face feeling greasy or oily. Try it, its pretty cheap. Hope it helps!

I have pretty much the same skin as you, and my dermatologist recommended to me to use Purpose brand moisturizer. It’s really good…soaks in quick enough, doesn’t cause acne, and doesn’t affect how oily your skin gets during the day. The only downside would probably be that it has no smell (i like smelly-good stuff…ha:)). It was about 9 dollars.

hope you find one right for you!

It could be the ingredients in your skin care products. Many contain petrolatum which is an oil and can promote oiliness. Some ingredients can dry out the skin thus oiliness.
